Pineclaw is a dark brown tom. He has a rip in one ear stretching all the way from the base of the ear to the tip.

In Battles of the Clans, Pineclaw and Leafstorm go on a patrol to WindClan to speak to Rabbitstar, and they are attacked when they had just barely crossed the border. Leafstorm is badly wounded, and Pineclaw tells Morningstar that they couldn't scent the WindClan cats because the WindClan cats were covered in ThunderClan scent. Later, he brings a mangled and frozen bird to Morningstar. When Morningstar complains, he snaps at him, telling Morningstar that that was all he could find, because of WindClan's theft of ThunderClan prey, and Morningstar tells him that he knows he is trying his best.
